Meet the team

Donald Armour BVMS MRCVS

Donald graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1987. Once qualified, Donald spent a year working in the South Lake District, before returning to Campbeltown. Donald became a partner in the business in 1993.

Whilst at university, Donald was awarded the Ben Brazil Prize for the final year student with best practical ability. He has also completed a diploma in Dutch cattle foot trimming.

Donald is married, with two grown-up sons and when he isn't busy working at home on the family farm, he enjoys a round of golf at one of Kintyre's well known courses.

Ruth Smith BVM&S MRCVS

Ruth is an Edinburgh graduate, and came to Campbeltown in 1991 where she has lived and worked ever since. Ruth became a partner at Westwards in 2009.

Ruth enjoys all aspects of mixed practice, especially small animal surgery and has a particular interest in orthopaedics. On the large animal side, Ruth says her favourite part of the job is getting out and about to visit the friendly Kintyre farmers!

When not at work, Ruth is kept very busy at home on the family dairy farm.

Dominic joined the practice after graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2014.

In his spare time he will usually be found training for his next running event, whenever he can find time between helping his wife with their two young daughters!

Marije has a particular interest in horses and is a keen horse rider herself, having 5 horses of her own at her family stables in the Netherlands and 2 horses staying with her in Kintyre.
